"Birch sap" It is becoming annual spring bushcraft event to tap birch to get sap. The sap contains much minerals s and vitamins, which you will need to boost up your body in spring, recharge the energy to enjoy the coming summer.
DeleteI also starte to collect it yesterday and got few liters alreay and mostly consumed. Birch sap (mahla in finnish) really is a great drink! I have never tried to make syrup though, maybe will try that sometime.

Oh, is it still. Comming! I think it stopped at my place . But I harvested about 10l from one hole in 3weeks. 5l in freezer for summer time drinking.
ReplyDeleteGreat instructional video! I'm enjoying birch sap this spring as well.

I saw on your blog that you have enjoyed the sap. It really is amazing drink.
DeleteI saw a post about making squash from birch leaves on Laplander's Natural Lore Blog. Since the sap from the tree on my yard has stopped, I am looking forward to get new leaves to come out, so I can try that.
